CLASS DESCRIPTION:

In this 2-day workshop you will meticulously design and create your own custom locket. You’ll learn how to size, construct and build each part of the locket bringing it into one piece that will be fired together. The unique construction will allow the front to swing open reveling your own special inspiration. As a final touch you’ll set a stone on the front adding a pop of color.

Written instructions are included for the project; however, you may want to bring a pen to note the numerous tips you’ll learn throughout the day.

PREREQUISITE: Intermediate – Prior use of metal clay needed. (Beginning metal clay on Friday is a great prerequisite).

INSTRUCTOR BIO: 

Stephanie Chavez is a certified metal clay artist and instructor. She is a diverse artist, proficient in many jewelry mediums, although her love, passion and expertise remain in metal clay as well as combining it with a variety of techniques. She is honored to be one of the first Principal Instructors through the Camp PMC Certification Program. Originally certified through Rio Grande, she has been working with metal clay for over 14 years. With national and international recognition through her online courses in metal clay; Stephanie has been considered an expert in her field. Stephanie has traveled the United State teaching at expos, retreats, symposiums and art studios. From beginners to advanced; she believes we each have the capacity to be inspired artists. Many people just need a safe and fun environment to explore their own creative limits. That is what she provides and shares, bringing joy to all those who attend her workshops.

WORKSHOP FEE: $455.08 includes Kit Fee

KIT FEE: $110 + $9.08(tax) = $119.08

KIT INCLUDES:

  • 30 grams of metal clay
  • Fine silver bezel
  • Stone (a variety of stones will be available to choose from)

TOOLS/MATERIALS STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE: 

If you have your own tools please bring:
Basic Metal clay tool kit (Roller, non-stick work surface, needle tool or awl, playing cards or depth measuring slats, glazed ceramic tile, x-acto knife, water mister, release agent (cool slip, olive oil) tweezers, sanding papers, acrylic block.

TOOLS/MATERIALS MULTIPLICITY MUST PROVIDE:

  • Kiln(s)
  • Drying plates, electric hot plate and/or dehydrator
  • Bezel Pushers/Burnishers

SHARED USE TOOLS/MATERIALS PROVIDED BY INSTRUCTOR:

  • Templates, Texture plates, specialty tools, cool slip, sanding material

TOOLS/MATERIALS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE FROM INSTRUCTOR, IF ANY:

  • Additional metal clay, Glass Cabochons, Fire safe CZ’s, texture plates

Additional Information:

  • Bring a sack lunch or be prepared to make an order for delivery. A refrigerator and water cooler are available for student use.
  • Studio Rules: Closed-toe shoes are required. Do not wear loose clothing that could get caught in rotary tools. Wear long hair tied back.

VISITING ARTIST WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY If minimum enrollment is not met at least 30 days prior to the start date, the Visiting Artist may cancel the workshop. In this instance, all paid students will be fully refunded.
If students cancel their enrollment 60 or more days from the start date of a paid Visiting Artist workshop, they will receive a full refund minus $75 cancellation fees. Cancellations within 59 or fewer days from the start date of a paid Visiting Artist workshop will not be refunded.
