CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Several years ago, I was asked to design a piece of jewelry for my daughter’s best friend and her mother, using some inherited gemstones. At the time I had been metal stamping, then carefully sawing out groups of various stampings to add to rings and pendants. The stampings were those of hearts, art deco and southwest inspired stamps. (But there are really so many more options, such as flowers, herbs, or even geometric image stamps).

This class is a spin off from those first two pieces made for my daughter’s friend & mother. I’ll show you how I came up with my initial design, so you can use it as well, if you’d like.

You will have the option to add whatever stone setting you’d like in the center of your piece, whether it’s a calibrated/pre-made bezel cup & cab, or perhaps use bezel or gallery wire to set a small cabochon. If you’re drawn to a tube setting, you will be free to use it as well, as that’s what I used in my first two pieces, made for my daughter’s friend & mother.

After your pendant has been completed, you’ll want to hang it from either a gemstone strung necklace, or perhaps you have a chain in mind, that you’d like to use. Multiplicity also has some beautiful chokers and/or chain options available as well. I will share my pattern for a favorite hook & eye that I use, when stringing a necklace.

Lastly, I am hoping you are able to saw out enough stamped pieces to use for a pair of post or dangle earrings. This will be totally up to you, and would be great to learn how to do, if you haven’t before.

PREREQUISITE: Beginner to Intermediate – Students should be skilled in using a Jewelers saw and have soldering experience. Please contact me if you have the desire, but not quite the required experience.
