Join Debbie Cardwell, as she leads students into the world of basic chainmail weaving.  The two beginning patterns will be:  Byzantine and Queen’s Chain or Box Chain. In addition to teaching these two basic weaves, the class will include the proper way to open/close jump rings, discussion of Aspect Ratio (AR), various chainmail terms, the use of various types of pliers as well as what types of metals, shapes and sizes of jump rings can be used. Students may be able to complete one bracelet length of chainmail, but the goal is to teach the two different weaves and have the students leave with confidence that they can complete two different bracelets using both weaves, at home. In addition to hands-on demonstrations, a handout will be provided with instructions and diagrams along with suggestions on sources for supplies, books, and tutorials. While students may not be able to complete a bracelet in class, enough jump rings are provided in the class kit to complete two bracelets. Students should be able to easily complete the project at home based on instructions, the handout and video tutorials readily available on YouTube.

PREREQUISITE: No prerequisites. All are welcome.
