ACE MCCASLAND – CREATIVE FIRE: PRONG SET RING

From: $494.95

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

In this two-day workshop, I will be showing you my unconventional approach to grasping a faceted gemstone in a hand fabricated prong setting to make a dramatic, sculptural ring. We will also explore several options for making unique and organic ring shanks, many utilizing scrap silver. You many choose to go simple or sublime, but either way, be prepared to take your creations to another level! You will be able to walk away from class with at least one fabulous, finished ring, and several shanks that you may continue to work on, or use as they are (the unembellished ring shanks make great stackers!)

PREREQUISITES/SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

INSTRUCTOR BIO:

Ace, of Studio Luna Verde, wandered (and settled) into Colorado several years ago, after exploring and hiking and driving all over the west, stopping a bit to live in places like Point Arena, California / Moab, Utah / Flagstaff, Arizona. Experiences have included driving 1950s era tour buses for Green Tortoise Adventure Travel / traveling & performing with a three-ring circus / working on the White Mountain Apache Tribe Reservation in Arizona / hiking into (and out of) the Grand Canyon at least seven times / living out of a ’72 Toyota Landcruiser for three (and a half) years while exploring the vastness of the U.S. / and failing miserably at surfing on the Sea of Cortez. Having settled in one place has allowed for explorations in many different aspects of art but playing with fire has become quite the favorite.
